Hey!
My name is Jen and I am proud to say I was a close friend to the incredible, enigmatic Murphy Mason.
Murphy loved to run. She ran marathons, ultra marathons, those steps by crescent heights (woah mama). It was one of her greatest passions.
In 2022, Murphy’s love of running was taken away when she developed necrotising fasciitis. One of her many goals in her healing journey was to one day be able to run again.
Tragically, Murphy passed away on June 3, 2025, meaning her goals to run marathons again would go unfulfilled.
Turns out, complex grief is a hell of a thing, and in my sorrow, I have decided to run for her. I plan to do an 8k in the Vancouver marathon in her honor, as my first race ever! (I literally started running 3 weeks ago!)
In doing this, I plan to fundraise for CFBTS. There’s not a lot of support groups for the scars left from nec fasc, but this society welcomed Murphy with open arms. She became part of their community, shared stories, laughter and tears with them.
This meant a lot to our girl, so please consider donating as I run my FIRST RACE EVER!!!
The goal is BIG but I guarantee you, Murphy’s heart was bigger.
